My name is Ashley Messier, and I’m a fourth year student at California State University Channel Islands. I am pursuing my Bachelors of Science in Environmental Science Resource Management with an emphasis in Earth Systems, as well as a minor in biology. I was inclined to enter this field because it will allow me to cohesively use my life long passions for conservation, design, and problem solving. I am the founder and president of the Conservation Robotics and Engineering Club at CSUCI where we aim to create tangible products that not only clean up the environment but also allow people to live better. Being a part of a team has taught me perseverance, discipline, teamwork, and leadership skills while my schooling and work life gave me a strong sense of individuality, creativity, and sociability. Throughout my collegiate career I have developed software proficiencies in Microsoft Word and Excel, Google Docs/Sheets/Slides/etc, ArcGIS Online, as well as ArcGIS Pro. In a lab I have mastered pipetting, gel electrophoresis, PCR, and more. Upon graduation I would like to attend design school where I can obtain the skills and resources necessary to bring my ideas to life in an innovative manner. I am also looking for internship opportunities that will allow me to gain first-hand experience.
